Kaiarahi Whanau Ora Navigator

0.675 FTE (27 hours per week), covering the Hauraki Rohe

 The primary goal for navigators is to put whānau and families in control of the services they need, to work together and build on whānau strengths to achieve self-reliance and whānau aspirations. Providing a ‘wrap around’ or multi-disciplinary support by drawing on a range of approaches to support whānau in achieving their aspirations. 

 Navigators reflect the importance of working with all whānau members, of providing advocacy and support in accessing services and helping whānau learn new skills so they can transition from dependency to tino rangatiratanga, or as self-managing as possible.

 Key Competencies for this position include:

  • Knowledge of whakawhānaungatanga me te reo me ngā tikanga Māori; 
  • A strong commitment to achieving Whanau Ora for tangata and their whanau,
  • Relevant whānau ora tertiary qualification (health, social science) and/or experience.
  • Current and full drivers licence.
  • Has well established networks and strong relationships with clinical practices within tertiary, secondary and primary careboth within the local and wider communities. 

 This challenging yet rewarding role is very fast paced and dynamic, therefore the ability to adapt is highly essential; Actively organised and attention to detail is a must. Due to the nature of working with priority whānau and the urgency it involves, navigators must be capable of working under pressure.
